I wouldn’t think it would matter

Not much, but she could lose command sponsorship if stationed over seas. Which means she will get sent back to the States. Also, this is really not for just one DUI, but the legal system can restrict her access to post. They could only allow her on post with an escort for medical care, if it was repeated over and over. Which means she would be met at the gate by an mp and escorted to her Dr’s. appointment. Or say she stole from the PX they can take away her PX privileges.

Also, if they wanted to be really hard they could restrict him from her. They could say here is a room to the barracks, take away his housing allowance, and order him to stay away from her. I doubt it would happen, but it could.

Her actions dont have anything to do with her husbands military career unless she does something ridiculous against the military…like something outrageous…bombing the base or something like that. A DUI is nothing against him unless he got it. He still wouldn’t be in much trouble…he’d get his pay docked and be restricted for awhile, or maybe even dropped in rank…but thats only if he himself got the DUI

Nothing would happen to the Soldier because he didn’t do anything.

Sometimes a DUI by a spouse can have a adverse effect on the military members career. There are different rules in play depending on where stationed etc. Simple rule is don’t get one and don’t have to worry about it. Dependents can effect the military members career in various ways. So just be yourself nothing stupid have fun and no problems.

As far as legally goes, nothing; however, her actions can adversely affect his career. Nothing kills a career these days like DUIs and the command is going to be on watching him like a hawk looking for anything after his wife pops a DUI. His chain will believe the old mantra “birds of a feather flock together” and the second he takes a wrong step they will be there.

I agree with most everything that’s already been stated but, another factor is where the dependent received the DUI. If it was on base, they could in all probability be barred from driving on base. Off base, there’s not much the military could do - the dependent doesn’t work for the military, the spouse does.

It depends on a couple of things. If she gets it on base they can suspend her driving privileges outright indefinitely. Off base they will follow the civilian penalty which now a days in many states carries a thirty day suspension. If her husband is a senior NCO or officer her actions could have an indirect affect on his career in so far as promotions and assignments go. You have heard the old adage that behind every good man is a good women. Nowhere is that more true than in the military and I have seen careers hampered, promotions lost and early separation from the military for service members who had spouses or dependents that had more serious problems like drug use, or things involving felony type crimes or behavior.

    It wouldn’t.
